Jason and I are overwhelmed by the amazing response we've received to our blog. When we first started this blog back in 2009, we didn't know what we were doing (and we still don't... !) and our readership was low. We didn't advertise to friends and family, we didn't spend any time on the blog, we didn't have effective posts. We just didn't.
This year, we decided to revive the blog, and we had a very clear idea on what we wanted to share, when we would share it, and who we envisioned our readers would be. We are grateful to have had more than 500 (!) hits to our blog in June, and we want to say a great, big thank you to everyone who stopped by our blog!
We've introduced many series over the past month and a half, and based on feedback we've received, we're going to do things a little bit differently on a trial basis for July and August. Here's what you can look forward to each week!
What's for Eats This Week: A menu has never looked so good! Read what we're going to eat each week, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Many of the items are linked to where the original recipe resides on the web so you can cook up the meals for you and your family.
The Gaming Corner (biweekly): Jason introduces you to some games you have never heard of (Blokus, anyone?) and games that are permanent residents on your game shelf!
In the Kitchen with Jason: Jason takes you on a culinary adventure complete with pictures and easy-to-follow instructions.
In My Mailbox: What freebies have we received over this past week? We'll link to any freebie giveaway that is still open so you can receive some of these by mail!
Homemade: Jason shares staple recipe items (like garlic bread) and home solutions (like all-purpose cleaner or laundry soap) so that you can all learn how to stop being dependent on companies to provide you with products that you can make yourselves! And throughout the months of July and August, I will bringing Homemade Beauty posts for you to learn how to make beauty items (like shaving cream or deodorant) to cut your grocery bills even further and feel good about what you're using on your body.
In the Kitchen with Jason: That's right - twice a week (I said twice a week!), Jason will be bringing you delectable recipes for you and your family to enjoy. This is one of our most popular series, and really, is anyone surprised? Chef Jason adores sharing food with you all, and he is thrilled to share recipes two times a week!
My Friday Finds (when there are finds to be shared!): You can find all sorts of deals posted here. Want to buy bread at 60 cents a loaf? Done! Want Bath and Body Works items at an incredible discount? Done! This series will occur randomly.
God Talk (formerly known as Thanks Be to God): I want to share with you all the deepest passion of my heart - Jesus died for us so that we may live! But receiving that grace and mercy is no easy feat, nor is living God's best life for us. Join me in my journey of inspiration, love, and hope. This series will also occur randomly.
This Book Room: It's summer reading time! Er, according to me, it's always reading time. I share my latest reads and recommend which books are deserving of a look.
Saving the Moola: I am so excited that this is also one of our most popular series! This series is moving to Saturday to allow for more In the Kitchen with Jason room. I will cover anything and everything that I know about saving money to help you and your family prosper. Upcoming topics include the best tips and tricks (and I promise you haven't heard them all!) and a review of The Money Class by Ms. Suze Orman.
To all our new readers, welcome to our blog! To all our already-devoted readers, we couldn't do this blog the way we do it without your loyal readership and feedback. We are delighted you're here, and we are truly here to serve you.
God bless you all, and have a wonderful holiday weekend!
